Well today is my birthday. I’m 25. Usually that’s a happy day for people and usually it is for me too. The thing that has me down, is my dad’s family. My dad is a long haul transport truck driver. My grandfather on my dad’s side phoned this morning asking where my dad is. Well my parents went on vacation just less then a month ago and to make up for the time he took off for that he is going to be on the road all through Christmas and New Years. No big problem for my mom or I, we don’t really have much we do anyways. Well when my grandfather asked where my dad was, I told him he was at work. He then proceeded to ask if he was going to be home for Christmas and I told him no. “OK, bye” where the next words spoken then dial tone. I can expect my dad’s mom and sisters the “forget” and not wish me a happy birthday but his dad is a whole different story. It really hurts when people do that. I am not blood related to my dad or his family but my mom has been with him since I was 2 so I think that qualifies. So today so far, I have actually had tears sting my eyes because of the arrogance of my dad’s family. What a great gift right?
